India is holding the Presidency of the G20 with the theme One Earth, One Family, One Future for the year 2023. Several Engagement groups are working towards it, one of which is Science20 or S20, which strives to bring leaders together from all over the world who can share their ideas on how science can help in a sustainable future.
The role of S20 in furthering the agenda of G20 is crucial, as science is the key driving force behind economic expansion and human progress. Inspired by the core theme of G20 which is the theme of the Science20 summit is taken as “Disruptive Science for Innovative and Sustainable Development”.
TSo far under the umbrella of S20 five programs were organized at Puducherry, Agartala, Lakshadweep, Bhopal, and Coimbatore for invited guests, scientists, researchers and stake holders. The subthemes for the discussion and programs were “Clean Energy for Greener Future”, “Universal Holistic Health”, and “Science for Society & Culture”.
Vidnyan Bharati Pune, a Western Maharashtra Unit of Vijnana Bharati in association with Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Puneis organizing an outreach program for disseminating the thoughts with our Scientific community and fraternity which were discussed in S20 meetings.
This will be an excellent opportunity for young researchers, students and scientists to bring new ideas and perspectives to Science20 theme and sub-themes. It is essential to spread awareness of Science20 to the youth of India.
